The Rev.: Sara Potter
Part of the mission of St. Alban's is to be a community "devoted to God through prayer, study and action." The Adult Christian Education ministry provides opportunities to grow in our faith and understanding of God's presence in our lives.
Bible Study
We meet via Zoom on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The St. Alban’s Bible study is discussion oriented. Currently we are studying Paul’s letter to the Galatians, one of the earliest New Testament documents. Paul argues that we are saved by God’s grace rather than by human efforts. He highlights themes of redemption through Jesus’ death and resurrection and introduces the concept of adoption into God’s family.
Anyone is welcome to join us. To obtain information for receiving the Zoom link, please contact the St. Alban’s office.
Sunday Holy Conversation
Coordinator: The Rev. Sara Potter
Holy Conversations at St. Alban's are lively and spirited discussions of religion, philosophy, literature, history, and personal faith. Forums are held Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Topics will vary throughout the year.
Sacred Ground
Facilitators: The Rev. Sara Potter and Elena Byrd
The 11-session program is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories. Small groups called “dialogue circles” walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity.
For more information about the curriculum, to view the syllabus, and to preview some of the films, see the Sacred Ground website https://episcopalchurch.org/sacred-ground/invitation. Sacred Ground is typically offered beginning in the late fall and continuing through the following spring. For more information, please contact St. Alban's office.
