Children and youth are an important part of our community at St. Alban's, and we provide for their spiritual growth and Christian formation through a variety of different ministries.
In order to protect the health of vulnerable members of our community, we ask that children who have a cough, fever or other signs of illness stay home, and masks must be worn by children over the age of two in church and on the church grounds.
Children's Chapel
Church School Director: Connie Webb
Children are welcome for the entirety of worship at Saint Alban's. As a bridge experience for young children we offer a developmentally appropriate Children's Chapel during the 10:30 a.m. time of worship. All ages are together for the opening hymn, the opening sentences and the readings from scripture. At the reading of the Gospel, preschool and early elementary age children are invited to a chapel of their own. During Children's Chapel they join in song, hear the Gospel and offer their prayers. They rejoin the community in worship during the exchange of the Peace.
Church School
Joy and fun come to those children attending St. Alban's church school each Sunday morning while they learn important lessons about God.
This year our parish will be using the "Living the Good News" curriculum in Church School. This curriculum is lectionary based. Each week prior to the church service, we will use interactive flannel-graph stories to explore in depth the stories that will be read aloud during the service. The curriculum invites us to learn by doing. In addition to talking about what we have heard and seen, we will also point, draw, act, cook, create crafts, play games and, most of all, figure out together how to take what we find into our everyday world.
Church School meets each Sunday morning throughout the year. Ages 4 through Kindergarten meet in room 2. Grades 1-5 meet in room 1. Grades 6 and up meet in room 3. Children are welcomed to join Church School classes anytime during the year.
Nursery
Nursery Attendants: Kip Allen and Kaitlyn Wheatley
A safe caring environment is provided for children ages five and under from 9:15 to noon each Sunday morning. Our experienced nursery attendants supervise and interact with the children in the playtime for preschoolers, toddlers and infants.
The nursery room is planned with safety and fun in mind. It is equipped with a changing table, a playpen, toys, books, a high chair, toddler-size chairs and table, and a rocking chair. An attractive, safe outdoor play area is also available for use by these young children as weather permits.
